December 2007:

  • Our society has received a prize recognition from The Ministry of Culture, Kuala Lumpur at event in Kota Kinabalu wittnessed by H. E. The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, H.E. The Governor of Sabah, H.E. the Chief Minister of Sabah, H. E. The Minister of Culture along with many other notabilities.

  • Fantastic Christmas Charity Gala with Fund Raising Auction for Borneo Child Aid Society arranged by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and YTL Corporation.

November 2007:       

                   

  • Meeting with Sven Tumba of Sven Tumba Education Fund arranged by H. E. the Swedish Ambassador about future support for sports for our children to strengthen general education.

October 2007:

  • Our Brand New 4WD Nissan Frontier donated by Gulf4Good for our project. Thanks a million times!

  • Visit by His Excellence the Ambassador of Finland Mr. Lauri Korpinen and Counsellor Mr. Jaakko Lehtovirta to BCAS Learning Centre in Balung Eco Plantation, where we were received with great hospitality by Datuk Harris and Indonesian Consul Didik Pujianto. Later a trip to Centre at Nam Hing Estate and to the new Schou Learning Centre in Semporna.

 

  • Meeting in Tawau with representatives from Consulate General and Directorate of Teacher Profession, Jakarta and all 109 Indonesian teachers working in our project.
  • Official opening of Learning Centre in Pahang 3 with teachers Fransiska and Octavianus sent by Indonesian Government.

September 2007:

  • Jebsen and Jessen is continuing the support covering 2 of our centres. Thank You very much!

August 2007:

July 2007:

  • Donation of UK £ 5000 from the Body Shop Foundation.Thank You for the support for the underprivileged children of Sabah. The Body Shop is a prominent member of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil RSPO.

  • DT-Group Denmark is continuing its sponsorship of 60 children at Fordeco Learning Centre.Thank You very much to DT-Group.

         

     

  • Interviews and performance by children in TV3's program: "360" on Wednesday 18/7 at 9 PM with TV3 reporter Mazidul and producer Fadzli Ramli.

  • Schou Learning Centre in Semporna. The centre is sponsored by Schou Company, Denmark, and it is providing education to 69 children without other access to school:

  • Wonderful arrangement with participants from Charity organizer Gulf4Good's Sabah Expedition led by Mr. Brian Wilkie and Children from Borneo Child Aid Centres in Tomanggong and Maywin2 at Sabah Tea Garden.

  • Fourth group of 30 teachers sent by the Ministry of Education in Jakarta to our project for plantation workers children arrive on the 2. July to Tawau and enjoy a two day course with visit by Indonesian Consul General from Kota Kinabalu and Directors from Ministry of Education, Putrajaya, Malaysia. Photos

  • 7.July: All 30 teachers are posted, ready to teach the children at the learning centres in the plantations.

 

June 2007:

  • Pleasant Visit by Counsellor Bo Mønsted from Danish Embassy in connection with his visit to Lahad Datu to promote the Danish Embassy's assistance to environment friendly palm oil production.

3 New Centres in April:

  • Opening of Centre in Trusjadi Plantation, Borneo Paradise Resort.

  • Opening of new Centre in Pamol Plantations, IOI.

  • Opening of school in Ladang Permai, Tradewinds with part sponsorship from BioX from Holland.

Important visits to centres in Tawau Semporna Area:

  • Commisioner Dr. Chiam and officers from Suhakam

  • Consul General Bapak Eka and Consuls Dr. Azhari Kasim, Bapak Didik Pujianto and Bapak Iskandar Abdullah from Indonesian Consulate Kota Kinabalu and Tawau.

  • Officials from the Ministry of Education, Putrajaya and from Yakim and Yapim offer important support for education in moral and religion.

March 2007:

  • The Embassy of Finland is continuing their important support also in 2007. Thank You Again Finland!

  • New School in Melangking 3 is initiated with computer room and fully equipped.

  • New School in Asia 2, first with JC Chang Plantations host meeting for the first time.

February 2007:

  • Visit to BCAS by reporter for Deutsche Welle, Jakarta, Miranti Hirschmann. Wonderful report in Indonesian Media.

  • Pledge from United Arab Emirates based Event/Charity organizer Gulf4Good www.gulf4good.org to provide important help to our society, during Sabah Expedion July 2007.

  • Important support from Datuk Harris for plan about starting a secondary level learning centre at Balung Eco Resort.

January 2007:

  • Continued private sponsorship by Danish Vice Consul Anders Møller and wife Silvia for Learning Centre at Balung River Estate.Our Sincere Thanks for your heartwarming support!   

  • Borneo Child Aid Society/Humana received a generous and important Donation From Lau Gek Poh Foundation of RM 100,000.  Our Sincere Thanks to Hap Seng through Managing Director Mr. Edward Lee and the Lau Gek Poh Foundation for the generous Donation.

Teachers Day in Balung Eco Resort a good and uplifting experience for all our 120 teachers.

  • Graduations and Exams. Beautiful ceremonies in all of the centres, which we presently operate.
  • Donation from CANON Malaysia of 30 printers and 300 good schoolbags. Thank You for the wonderful donation. Now all centres are complete with printer and PC.

  • Donation from General Consulate of Republic of Indonesia of 6 printers. Thank You very much.

November 2006:

  • Visit by Delegations from the Indonesian Vice Presidents Office officials from several ministries of the Republic of Indonesia. Tour to witness education in many of our 59 learning centres.

  • RSPO: Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil RT4 in Singapore gave us a very good opportunity to present our work to companies involved in palm oil production as well as processing.
  • RSPO member BioX Malaysia is pledging to sponsor one new centre

October 2006:

·         Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) has given an important donation for 120 children at 2 centres. Thank you very much for the noble help for the underprivileged children in Sabah.

·         Melangking Oil Palm Plantations Regional Manager Mr. Chee Yun Fah shows us the almost finished construction of new school building in Melangking Oil Palm Plantation. A computer room is scheduled, using computers from the Maersk Donation. 

 September 2006:

·         Program of opening new centres with participation of Indonesian Government sponsored teachers in remote areas going well. This month 5 new Learning Centres have been started:  Labuk Estate, Laukin Estate, Permodalan Estate, IOI, Balung Eco Resort under Datuk Harris, Nam Hing Estate under Nam Hing Sdn Bhd.

·         Another Fantastic Support: 76 good Second Hand Computers for our centres have just been donated by Maersk Malaysia! Now each centre can get at least one PC. Thanks also for donating again this year RM 15,000 for 50 children's education. 

·         Generous Donation of Danish Kroner 100,000 (RM 65,000) from Poul Due Jensen's Foundation, Grundfos. Warm Thanks for this very important contribution and for the strong showing of Corporate Citizenship!

·         5 good Second Hand Computer sets donated by HSBC Kota Kinabalu! Thanks again HSBC!

·         Donation of books for RM 5000 from Ronald Mcdonalds Children's Charities Fund. Thank You Mcdonald's. Books have been delivered to the centres already.

·         51 Indonesian Teachers well arrived and already teaching.

 

·         Within less than one month, 51 well educated teachers from all parts of Indonesia have already arrived to our society in Sabah and they are presently teaching in the plantations. Great Joy among parents and Children for this important step from the Indonesian Government.

  • Pleasant visit by Representatives from UNICEF Malaysia and the Ministry of Education, Kuala Lumpur.  They came to see our Learning Centres in Lahad Datu and Semporna area. There was also time for a boat trip to Kampung Tandoan on Timbun Mata Island. The representatives were happy to witness our efforts for the children and we keep our fingers crossed for UNICEF's future support.

  • A much needed Donation of RM 30,000 from East Asiatic Company, covering the costs of two of our Learning Centres, Copenhagen. Warm Thanks to EAC!

  • High Profile Visit to Tawau and Semporna centres by the Ministry of Education, Kuala Lumpur and Department of Education officers, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, Headed by Dr. Mohd. Nor bin Mohd. February 2006:

Tragic event in Linbar 2 Estate. An eleven year old girl, who is a student at our Learning Centre gets bitten by a cobra snake inside the family's kitchen. She dies on the long way to hospital.

January 2006:

  • Great news: 

    5 year sponsorship from EAC Foundation (East Asiatic Company, Copenhagen) for Learning Centres for children in Tawau and Kunak Area. Two centres named "EAC Foundation Learning Centres" will be initiated shortly and will have sponsorship for 5 years from EAC Foundation. Operating costs of the new centre at Kalabakan is already sponsored from this donation.

  • 3 Centres with Lai Fook Kim in Sandakan District.

  • New centre at Sri Perdana in Lahad Datu for town kids.
